I am pleased to be able to present The Holbrook Report as prepared by JC Halbrooks from Sterling, CT on July 7, 1988. I didn't know JC personally, but I do know he spent untold hours researching the Holbrook genealogy and had been working on it since 1966. He was also a frequent contributor to the Holbrook Family Genealogy Forum. He had a lot of patience with neophytes and was always willing to help, explain or provide information on the Holbrook genealogy.
JC was born in 1940 and died in late 1999. He is truly missed by all, especially his family and those involved with genealogy.
I personally have added no value here, but merely provided the space to make this information available to all who may be interested, which is what we believe that JC desired.
I have slightly restructured the report for convenience in perusing but have made no content changes. The last section (North American Pre-1840 Holbrook Lines) was re-lettered Section "I" from "H" to avoid confusion with the map Section "H". Sections A-1, A-2, B-1, B-3, B-4 were added with information provided by Darrell Cook and Jerry Hurley - many thanks! - which was missing from my copy. Section C-1 has been added but is from the 1998 version and may be different from the 1988 version.
The Holbrook Coat of Arms in color (upper left corner of these pages) is from a picture of an oil painting that hung in the living room of Ernest C. Holbrook's grandmother (I believe in Kentucky). The Holbrook Report contains a black and white depiction with a coloration description. The similarities are strikingly apparent. However the color schemes noted in The Holbrook Report differ. I elected to use the Coat of Arms with color strictly because of it's increased eye appeal, not because it is any more or less historically accurate than the Coat of Arms described and depicted in The Holbrook Report.
If you want any more information than what is contained here, I suggest you make a post in the Holbrook Genealogy Forum. They have been quite good at returning queries and supplying information.
Please email me with any corrections, omissions and/or additions, as well as suggestions for improved content or understanding.
